Portrait Photography which is also known as Portraiture can be seen as a photograph of an individual or a group of individuals. This particular type of photography represents the personality of the subject(s) captures in an image through the use of proper lighting, edit, poses and other relevant things. Portrait Photographs are taken for different reasons and are used for several purposes ranging from weddings to modeling and so on. We should note that there are various examples of portrait photographs but they fall under two broad categories; Artistic Portraits and Clinical Portraits.
The artistic portraits have various examples that I have explained ranging from self-portraits to mobile portraits. Self Portrait which is a portrait an artist creates of himself or any other individual. The self-portrait could be used as background images on websites or just kept at home for posterity’s sake and other reasons. Photographers usually take time to properly edit such portraits as they can display their skills through this and attract other clients. When a person sees a properly done self-portrait, they want to know the photographer that took it so they can patronize such photographers. Some photographers add their logos or business name on a self-portrait for publicity and brand sake.
Best Examples of Inspiring Portrait Photography
The fine Art Portrait has a very intellectual value and it could be a properly edited self-portrait or a random picture that was properly edited. The fine art portrait could be self-portraits, conceptual photographs, or any other photographs that have an artistic touch to it.
Another type of artistic portrait is the environmental portrait where the environment is capture and it complements the individual in the picture. The camera is not only focused on the individual but also on his surroundings and how they complement each other. Mobile Portraiture is another example of an artistic portrait photograph where natural light was used and a moving truck served as the studio.
Clinical Portrait Photographs consist of photographs of the various human body parts or animal body parts that need to be examined or tested. This pictures could also serve as a learning tool for other doctors as it avails them the opportunity to thoroughly look at an image and examine it for proper understanding. Clinical portrait photographs are sometimes taken by doctors, medical students or photographers.

Conclusion
Both artistic and clinical portraits are important to designers although one more than the other. In comparison to the artistic portraits, the Clinical portraits do not need a lot of edits, lights or other studio effects. They just need to be visible, clear and of high quality, unlike the traits of the artistic portrait that needs a lot of other touch or things to make it perfect. Both can be used as background images or just random images on a website or a design, ranging from portfolio websites to websites for hospitals and healthcare centers. Designers would have to match such portrait photographs properly with a design or site in order to make it visually interesting and appealing.
